In His Image

Gen 1:26-28
Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; … " So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Yes, God created Adam (Man) and Eve (Woman) is His image, but what exactly does it mean to be created in the image of God? Are we a bunch of little imperfect gods running around down here trying to earn our full God-hood? When we finally see God face-to-face, is he going to look like George Burns maybe? Does God consider himself “whole” because he has ten fingers and ten toes? My answer to these questions would be “probably not.” I believe what it means to be created in the image of God is to be created as triune beings. Just as God is triune: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; we are triune: Body, Soul and Spirit.

Why would a book on wellness start out discussing the triune nature of God? Because for us to understand our triune nature, we must first understand God’s triune nature. We need to understand God’s triune nature the way the Second Corinthians church understood God’s triune nature. When we can combine the Grace of God demonstrated through Jesus, the Power of God demonstrated through the Holy Spirit, and the Love of God demonstrated through the Father to experience the synergistic effect of the combination, the church today will take a giant step toward becoming the “Bride of Christ” God is looking for.

The same synergy comes into play when we look at the triune nature of the human creation. Our body, soul and spirit work together to make us the people we are. If we fail to take care of any part of the trinity, we weaken the whole of the trinity and also weaken the other pieces. Just as it is time for the church to recognize and acknowledge the truth of the power in the Triune nature of God, it is time for Christians to recognize and acknowledge the truth of the triune nature of ourselves. I believe that we have a responsibility to God to present a true picture of the nature of Christ to the world. Our ability to do that is truly hindered if we ignore any aspect of our triune nature.

Why is it important for Christians to walk in wellness? Christians are called to go into all the world making disciples of all people baptizing, teaching, and loving them. If we are not walking it divine health, it is hard to get our eyes off of ourselves long enough to help anyone else. If we are struggling with our own storm, we cannot expect to enter someone else’s storm and help them. We as Christians are most effective witnesses when we can confront another person’s problem and help them through it. I know we all have storms in our lives, but I can tell you that if our health is good, these storms are less severe. If we walk in the true nature of the triune beings God created us to be, the storms of the world will blow by us with little to no impact. Divine health is an integral part of that triune nature.

I believe that we as Christians are living Hos 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” NKJV Therefore, this book is written to increase the knowledge of Christians in the area of wellness of the body, including the areas of nutrition, physical fitness and alternate health practices. Hopefully it will help readers see the importance of taking better care of their bodies, remembering that our body is the living temple of the Holy Spirit.
